Becker Associates Develops Website and Conference System for STAO
The Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario, a subject area association, found itself confronting an increasingly unmanageable legacy website, being hand-coded by one or two volunteers. Any and all content updates passed through these two hands, site was built piece by piece and some content was removed as the organization moved into a new conference year, losing the SEO history. This became a concern as the association considered succession planning in the eventuality that these volunteers moved on.
Becker Associates built a pilot site primarily for STAO’s conference program and materials, in a full, open source, content management system. In combination with systems we have built over the years for other teacher groups, STAO got a end-to-end product to help with the submission, approval, scheduling, and publication of it’s conference program using a CMS that is standards-based, and is supported by a community of tens of thousands. After successful completion of the pilot, the association rolled out it to a live site. We have also worked on marketing projects.
This project involved going through their current content and resource downloads to create the information architecture for all their documents, and resource pages in numerous categories.
I have been working with Adam for the past eighteen months on the ongoing conversion of our website to a Joomla platform. Our website is complex in both structure and content. I have found Adam to be essential to this conversion. He is extremely knowledgeable, very intelligent, has a high degree of creativity and is extremely responsive. I have no hesitation of recommending Adam as a partner in a project of this nature.
